WEBB WILDER SAYS IT'S ABOUT TIME NEW LANDSLIDE RECORDS CD IS FIRST IN 9 YEARS
WEBB WILDER AND THE NASHVEGANS TO PERFORM AT AMERICANA MUSIC ASSOCIATION SHOWCASE DURING SXSW
ATLANTA, GA - Landslide Records has announced a March 15 release date for the new CD from Webb Wilder and the Nashvegans, About Time, his first new studio album in nine years. Produced by long-time Wilder cohort R.S. Field, About Time was recorded at Bucky Baxter's Studio in Nashville and includes special guests Bucky Baxter (Bob Dylan band) on pedal steel guitar and Jimmy Lester (Los Straitjackets) on drums. The CD is comprised of mostly original songs by Field and Wilder, with some interesting covers such as breakneck versions of "Mary Lou" (Young Jessie) and "Down on the Farm" (Big Al Downing).
Last September, Landslide Records re-released the long out-of-print classic first Webb Wilder CD, It Came From Nashville (Deluxe Full Grown Edition), which included six previously unreleased live bonus tracks. Originally released by Landslide in 1987 on vinyl with 12 tracks of both studio and live material, It Came From Nashville launched the career of the man (and the band) known as Webb Wilder, "The Last of the Full Grown Men." His credo of "work hard, rock hard, eat hard, sleep hard, grow big and wear glasses if you need 'em" became a rallying cry for the '80s and '90s generations of fans who became enthralled with Wilder's whole persona as well as the dynamic rock-fueled, hard core country and blues hybrid of music he and his band performed on stages around the world.
In the last several years, Webb Wilder has also enhanced his visibility as the regular host of the popular XM Satellite Radio show, "X (Cross) Country," which originates in a studio housed in the main lobby of The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
Webb Wilder and the Nashvegans have also been announced to perform at the Americana Music Association's showcase during the upcoming SXSW Music Festival in Austin. Their set will take place at the legendary Antone's music club on Thursday, March 17.
Webb and the band will then begin an extensive tour in support of About Time.
